Bishop Kearney High School Announces Plans for a Transformational Athletic and Wellness Facility

The initiative represents a major investment in student experience, health, and development. The project will include a new on-campus ice rink, athletic facility, and supporting training and wellness space designed to serve a broad range of student needs ranging from physical education and team sports to strength training, fitness, and academic programming tied to health and performance.

“This project is about investing in every Bishop Kearney student,” said Paul Colontino, President of Bishop Kearney. “Our vision is to create a campus environment that supports student wellness, fosters participation across multiple sports and disciplines, and provides the resources needed to help students grow, compete, and succeed.”

The project will be implemented in phases, beginning with foundational facility improvements already in active planning. Additional elements, including expanded training, fitness, and multi-use athletic space, will scale as donor support and community investment continue to build.

“Our goal is to create a space that benefits the entire student body,” said Brendan Tydings, Chair of the Bishop Kearney Board of Trustees. “It’s about creating opportunities for more students to engage in athletics, develop healthy habits, and be part of a thriving school community.”

The facility will provide year-round access to athletic and wellness resources, strengthening Bishop Kearney’s ability to serve current students while enhancing its appeal to prospective families and future generations.

The facility will be made possible through philanthropic support and is actively seeking additional donors to help bring the full vision to life. Naming opportunities and additional ways to support the project will be announced as the campaign progresses.

The school anticipates construction timelines will be finalized following continued planning and fundraising milestones. Additional updates will be shared with the community as the project advances.
