ROCHESTER, NY — Bishop Kearney proudly announces that eight alumnae of the BK Selects hockey program have been named to to Team USA, Team Germany, and Team Czechia Women’s Olympic Hockey Team, which will compete this February in Milan, Italy.
The roster for Team USA was unveiled January 2nd during an exclusive announcement on NBC’s TODAY show. While the international team rosters were released January6th and 7th.
Representing Bishop Kearney on Team USA:
Haley Winn ’21 — Defender; Rochester/Webster native, former Clarkson University All-American, and current member of the PWHL Boston Fleet.
Laila Edwards ’22 — Forward; Cleveland Heights, Ohio; standout forward and team captain at the University of Wisconsin and rising star in USA Hockey.
Caroline “KK” Harvey — Defense; Pelham, New Hampshire; former BK player, Beijing Olympian, and leader and team captain for the University of Wisconsin.
Ava McNaughton ’23 — Goaltender; Pennsylvania; key member of Wisconsin’s nationally ranked program.
Kirsten Simms — Forward; Michigan; dynamic scorer and NCAA champion at Wisconsin.
Representing Bishop Kearney on their respective international Olympic teams:
Nina Christof ’22 — Forward; Team Germany
Nina, Hammelburg, Germany a IIHF U18 Women’s World Champion, Christof was named Player of the Game and served as team captain from 2020–2022. She is currently a senior and team captain at Rensselaer and has earned ECAC All-Academic Team honors.
Michaela Hesová ’24 — Goaltender; Team Czechia
A Prague, Czechia standout and second-year goaltender at Dartmouth College, Hesová earned Rookie of the Week honors, set the program record with 848 saves, and received multiple ECAC honors. She has represented Team Czechia at the senior international level, earning Player of the Game honors at the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship against the USA.
Jule Schiefer ’20 — Forward; Team Germany
A talented forward from Munich, Germany, Schiefer has competed at the highest levels of German women’s hockey with ECDC Memmingen (DFEL) and internationally for Team Germany. Known for her skill and consistency, she has represented her country in multiple IIHF and international tournaments, establishing herself as a key contributor on the national stage.
“These remarkable young women represent the very best of Bishop Kearney- faith, discipline, resilience, and a commitment to excellence,” said Paul Colontino, President of Bishop Kearney. “Seeing them skate onto the Olympic ice is a moment of tremendous pride for our school and for the Greater Rochester community.”
One selection carries special meaning locally. Haley Winn ’21, the hometown Olympian, who grew up in the Rochester/Webster area. Her mother, Janet Winn, serves on Bishop Kearney’s Board of Directors.
“As a mom and a board member, this is incredibly special,” said Janet Winn. “Watching Haley grow from a young player in Rochester/Webster into one of the nation’s elite defenders has been a source of immense pride for our family and community.”
“BK has built a program that develops both great players and great people,” said Cari Coen, Director of Women’s Hockey at Bishop Kearney. “Our alumnae competing in Milan will inspire a whole new generation of young girls who dare to dream big.”
Kathy Pippy, Bishop Kearney Board Member and a leader in establishing the girls’ hockey program, added: “This is a milestone moment not just for BK, but for women’s hockey. From the early vision of creating opportunities for girls to compete at the highest level, to now watching our alumnae play on the world stage it shows what intentional commitment can achieve.”
Their achievements reflect the long-standing commitment of the Bishop Kearney Selects program to developing elite student-athletes and preparing them for success at the collegiate, professional, and international levels.
