Haley Winn, a 2021 graduate of Bishop Kearney and former BK Selects standout, has taken a major step in her hockey career. She was recently selected second overall by the Boston Fleet in the 2025 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Draft. A moment that marks both a personal milestone and a historic moment in the growing landscape of women’s professional sports.
Winn’s journey began on the outdoor rink behind her childhood home, where she developed her toughness and competitive spirit playing alongside her three older brothers. Her early transition from forward to defense showcased her natural skating ability and defensive instincts, laying the foundation for what would become a highly decorated playing career.
She rose to national prominence as a key player in the Bishop Kearney Selects program, an elite team that brings together top-tier student-athletes from across the U.S. and abroad. Winn quickly became known for her two-way play, combining strong defensive presence with exceptional puck-handling and scoring ability. Her time at BK opened the door to national team opportunities and drew attention from top college recruiters.
At Clarkson University, Winn distinguished herself as one of the top defenders in the NCAA. She earned All-American honors twice, led her team in blocked shots, and wrapped up her senior season with ECAC Player-of-the-Year and Defender-of-the-Year awards. She also made headlines with her work ethic, including more than 35,000 practice shots logged on a training machine during her freshman year alone and was widely recognized as a leader on and off the ice.
Her success continued on the international stage with Team USA, winning two gold medals at world championship tournaments and earning a roster spot for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
With her recent draft to the Boston Fleet, Winn now turns the page to her professional career, one made possible by years of perseverance, talent, and dedication. She represents not only the best of Bishop Kearney athletics, but also the bright future of women’s professional hockey.
