Once a King, Always a King: Farewell to Mrs. Martell

JW
After five years of dedicated leadership at Bishop Kearney, Principal Mary Martell will be stepping down later this month as she relocates to be closer to family. Her lasting contributions to Catholic education and the BK community will be celebrated in a special event this fall.
It is with deep appreciation and affection that we share the news that our Principal and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Mrs. Mary Martell, will be stepping down from her role later this month as she prepares to relocate to be closer to family.

Since joining Bishop Kearney in 2020 as a Religion teacher, Mary has been a guiding force within our community. Her leadership has been marked by compassion, strength, and a steadfast commitment to Catholic education. She quickly transitioned into the role of Principal, where she has helped shape a school culture rooted in academic excellence, faith, and community.

Mary brought with her a wealth of experience and a heart for service, having previously led Holy Cross School as Principal. Many students and families came to know her there, and some continued their journeys alongside her here at BK. Her ability to foster trust, build meaningful relationships, and nurture faith has made a lasting impact on every corner of our school.

Reflecting on her time at BK, Mary shared, “It has been a true honor and blessing to serve alongside you over the past five years… Each day, you show up with love for our students and with unwavering support for one another. That is what makes Bishop Kearney such a special place.”

Though she will be greatly missed, Mary looks forward to returning to the classroom, continuing her work with students in a new setting. She carries with her all that she’s learned at BK and the lasting connections she’s formed here.

As we prepare for this transition, we are pleased to share that Keith Miller, our Vice President of Operations and an 18-year member of the BK community, will serve as Interim Principal beginning this summer. Keith’s long-standing leadership and deep understanding of our school ensure a strong and steady path forward.

Plans are underway for a special celebration this fall to honor Mrs. Martell’s many contributions. In the meantime, we ask the BK Family to join us in thanking her for her years of dedicated service and in wishing her the very best in this next chapter.

Mrs. Martell, your legacy lives on in the halls of BK and you will always be part of our family.
