John Nevins was a passionate lover of golf and all things sports, known for his sarcastic wit and "tough guy" exterior, but beneath it all, he had a heart of gold. Above everything, John was a devoted family man. Together with Jeanne, his beloved wife of 45 years, they proudly put six children through Bishop Kearney. From the moment his oldest entered BK in 1992 until his twin daughters graduated in 2011, John was a constant presence at nearly every BK event—always the proud dad, cheering loudly with a video camera in hand. Whether it was at sports games, awards ceremonies, or his favorite, cheerleading competitions, John’s enthusiasm was unwavering. The countless drives he made to and from BK were a testament to the school being a second home to the family for 19 years.
John's pride in, commitment to, and love for his family were evident to everyone who knew him. His absence is deeply felt. It is with great honor that we dedicate this tournament to his memory, paying tribute to an amazing man who was a BK dad to so many, far beyond his own children.
Proceeds from the tournament will continue his legacy by giving BK students the opportunity to receive a BK scholarship.
