Music in Our Lives (full year 11th grade) (1/2 year underclassmen)
(Full year course) Music in Our Lives will guide the interested student to expand their knowledge of music. Starting with the basics of pitch, rhythm, and form, we will discover how music is put together. Through the study of music through time, we will explore the development of western music. Students will participate in a wide variety of activities, including listening, playing of instruments, movement and dance, composition, a special interest research project, and a look into careers in music.

(Half year course)- Music in Our Lives will guide the interested student to expand their knowledge of music. Starting with the basics of pitch, rhythm, and form, we will discover how music is put together, with an emphasis on basic musicianship on piano.

Guitar (1/2 Unit)
This semester course will combine the theory and history behind the guitar as an instrument, as well as incorporate time to play and practice the guitar.

Music Theory (1 Unit)
This course focuses on developing skills in ear training, part writing, composition, and all aspects of music in "back to basics." Students will make use of both treble and bass clefs and learn the transpositions of the standard "Band" instruments. Final project will be to compose a piece of music, arrange it for an ensemble and have it performed.

Studio Art (1 Unit) (Upperclassmen)
An introductory course focusing on color theory, the principles of art and elements of design.

Studio Art 1 (1/2 Unit) (Underclassmen)
An introductory course focusing on color theory, the principles of art and the elements of design. This course is for those students who would like to go on and take more art courses.

Studio Art 2 (1/2 Unit)
Semester course. (Second half of underclassmen requirement)

Ceramics (1/2 Unit)
This course will explore both hand built and wheel thrown pottery. Pre-requisite-Studio 1

Drawing and Painting (1 Unit)
This course will focus on drawing and painting primarily. It is designed to accommodate serious students who are beginning to prepare a portfolio for college presentation and/or the AP Program. Pre-requisite Studio 1/Studio 2

AP Art (1 Unit)
This course is for dedicated students who are capable of independent work and planning on a career in the art field. A substantial portfolio of work must be ready for submission in early May. College credit may be earned in this class. Pre-requisites: Studio1/Studio2, Drawing and Painting
